The Beatles were a pop and rock band team from Liverpool in England. It was formed in the 1960s. The permanent members of the band were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harison, and Ringo Starr. The Beatles were responsible for the 1960s musical invasion of America. Although the group specialized at first in rock and roll and skiffle, they explored new genres like Tin Pan Alley and psychedelic rock. Their clothes, styles, and speech made them trend-setters. Their influence was so powerful that they inspired social and cultural revolutions in the 1960s. When the band broke up in 1970, all four members embarked on solo careers. The Beatles have been one of the most commercially successful bands in popular music.
